Phillip Borge

Phillip is in his early 20s and comes from Gibraltar. He has been singing since the age of 10 in local choirs and societies both as a soloist and as a member of the chorus.

Phillip Graduated from Bath Spa University with an honours degree in Music, specialising in performance. He has since continued to train as an operatic Tenor with Rosa Mannion and will enter The Royal College of Music’s Post Graduate Opera Course in Sept 2007.

Phillip’s most recent solo appearances include; Lensky ‘Eugene Onegin’ the Tenor soloist in ‘Misa Criolla’ and ‘Navidad Nuestra’ both by Ariel Ramirez, Haydn’s Maria Theresa Mass, Handel’s ‘Messiah’ and selections from ‘Christmas Oratorio’ (Bach), Cosi fan tutte (Mozart) and Damon in ‘Acis and Galatea’ (Handel).

During his time at university Phillip appeared as a soloist in most of the concerts and productions, these include; Papageno ‘The Magic Flute’, Parsi Rustomgi ‘Satyagraha’ (Philip Glass), King Richard ‘Blondel’ (Oliver) and The Messiah and The Creation.

Phillip has taken on solos roles for Bath Opera, Bristol Opera, White Horse Opera and Kennett Opera, these include; Figaro ‘The Marriage of Figaro’, Dapertutto ‘The Tales of Hoffmann’ and the Title roles of Macbeth and Eugene Onegin.

Other concert performances include; Male soloist ‘The Armed Man’, ‘Serenade to Music’ and Samuel in ‘The Pirates of Penzance (Gilbert & Sullivan).

In 2004 Phillip won the Rondo Music & Concert club ‘Sponsor a singer’ competition.

Future appearances include; Guest soloist for White Horse Opera Christmas Concert (Dec 06), Principal soloist ‘A celebration of Sacred Music’ in aid of RICC (12th April, Gibraltar), Tenor Soloist Schubert Mass in G and Mozart Vespers K339 (Westbury Choral, 21st April 2007) and Tenor soloist for Opera Sulis – Opera Gala (Holburne Museum, Bath 24th March 2007).
