Auditions for La Traviata will be at St Joseph's School Hall Devizes on Sunday 29th January 2012 from 2.30-5.30pm.
The production will be sung in English language using a translation by Graham Billing. Interested singers are therefore asked to prepare pieces as outlined below using any available English translation. Copies of audition pieces with the new translation can be obtained using the contact details given below.
Violetta: "Sempre libera" (act 1): starting with the recitative ("Follie!", figure 17 to 18) followed by the second half of the aria (figure 20 to end of act) and "Addio del passato" (act 3): from the begin of the recitative "Attendo, attendo" to the middle of the aria (first occurance of "fini").
Alfredo: "De miei bollenti spiriti" (act 2): recitative and aria without cabaletta (begin of act 2 until Figure 2).
Giorgio: "Di Provenza il mar” (act 2), from Andanta Piuttosto Mosso (Figure 15) to just before Allegro.
All other parts: Please prepare a piece of about 2-3 minutes which is similar in range and style to the part that you are interested in. Please bring a copy of your music for our pianist.
